Simon graduated with honours from University College Hospital London in 1978 and qualified as a Licentiate Dental Surgery Royal College of Surgeons in 1979. The first period of his career was spent in the department of Maxillo Facial Surgery at University College Hospital London. He elected to return to medical school qualifying as a doctor in 1984. Then followed 5 years of medical rotations in London Hospitals.
Simon moved from hospital-based care to general practice. His first practices were in Putney, London and then Winchester, Hampshire. During this period undertaking further advanced care courses with a year spent attached to The Eastman Dental Hospital, London. In 2014 he had a further attachment at Newcastle Dental Hospital undertaking studies in Sedation dentistry.
His special interest both as a tutor and in practice is sedation dentistry and taking care of the very nervous patients.
He has played an active role in the executive of the LDC Hampshire, with a period as Chairman – mentoring colleagues and practices in need of support.
